There is no starter list of required training

Every free training matrix on the internet ships with one, and it is wrong for somebody. Required training turns on your industry, your state, your license class and the actual job — and a list presented as the required list is the most confident lie a template can tell. The rows are yours to write.

Role is a column, not a taxonomy

You type the role in your own words. There is no fixed job hierarchy here and no attempt to model an organization: a role is a label you use to say who a training item applies to, and it changes when your organization does.

A completed training session with a sign-in sheet is a training record, and a toolbox talk delivered on site is a toolbox talk — both produce a document. This matrix is the standing view of who still owes what. Licenses and certificates with expiry dates belong in the certificate tracker.

A matrix of the training YOU require. Questions people ask

What training does the law require?
This tool does not say, and that is deliberate. Required training differs by industry, by state, by license class and by job — and a starter list presented as 'the required list' would be the most confident lie a template can tell. Add the rows YOUR regulator, licensor, insurer and policy actually call for.
How do renewals work?
You set the renewal date. When it passes, the row can be moved to 'Needs renewing' so it appears in what is still owed. Nothing here calculates an interval, because no interval here would be ours to state.
How is this different from the certificate tracker?
The certificate tracker answers 'what expires next' across licenses, permits and certificates for a facility. This answers 'which of my people still owe which training'. One is about the organization's documents, the other about individuals' requirements — and they are usually looked at by different people for different reasons.
Can I record training for somebody who is not an employee?
Yes. Everybody in this product is a person in the address book with a stable id — a crew member, a contractor's technician, a volunteer. Nothing here makes 'employee' the identity, which is why the same person can carry a training record across a change in how they work for you.
