Tenant satisfaction survey

Field sheet

A short survey you can print and hand out, and somewhere to type the answers back in.

Ask, before they leave

Most residents who are unhappy do not complain — they just do not renew. Three plain questions and a comments box are usually enough to find out which is which.

It asks nothing about who anybody is

No race, ethnicity, religion, disability, familial status, sex, national origin, age or health question appears on this sheet. Feedback about a building does not require knowing anything about the person giving it.

Anonymous is fine

No name is requested and the unit is optional, which is often what makes an answer honest.

Alongside this: Complaint register · Communication log · Maintenance request

A survey you run yourself. CompliMaint asks no demographic or protected-characteristic question, scores and ranks nobody, determines nothing about any tenancy or eligibility and gives no fair-housing or legal advice. Everything runs on your device.

Questions people ask

Why are there no demographic questions?
Because in housing they are the questions that turn a feedback exercise into evidence. Race, ethnicity, religion, disability, familial status, sex, national origin and age are protected characteristics, and a landlord’s file of tenants sorted by any of them is a serious problem. There are none here and there will not be.
Do I have to record who answered?
No. The unit column is optional and no name is asked for anywhere. An anonymous response is a perfectly good response.
Does it score anybody?
No. It ranks no tenant, scores no response and determines nothing about anybody’s tenancy or eligibility.
Can I change the questions?
The three questions are fixed so the sheet stays short and comparable; anything else goes in the comments column in the resident’s own words.
How is this different from the complaint register?
The complaint register handles something already raised. This asks people who have not complained.
