Returned to carrier is not collected

Two different endings, and a log that counted them together would tell you a desk handed over something it actually sent back. Both are terminal — the parcel is gone either way — and both stay on the record, because the one somebody asks about six weeks later is always the one that went back.

What is in the box is not recorded

Deliberately. A desk log needs enough to hand the right parcel to the right person: a unit, a carrier, a shelf, a size. It does not need to know what somebody ordered, and a log that wrote it down would be a log of your residents’ private business sitting on a shared computer. Keep the description to what you would say out loud in the lobby.

Questions people ask

Does this notify residents?
No. It records that you told them — which is the fact anybody later disputes — and sends nothing itself. Nothing in CompliMaint emails, texts or messages anybody; everything stays on this device.
How long should I hold a parcel?
That is your house rule, and CompliMaint states none. Put your own date in “collect by” and the log will show you which parcels are past it. Nothing here says a holding period exists or what happens when it runs out.
What if somebody else collects it?
Record who, in the collection note. The point of the log is that the answer to “who took my package” exists in writing, and “the neighbor in 3C, with permission” is a perfectly good answer as long as somebody wrote it down at the time.
Can I record a signature?
Write down that one was given and by whom. The log holds no images and captures no drawn signature: a parcel desk is not the place to start collecting them, and a typed note made at the moment is the record that actually gets read later.
