Say how the owner can respond

Many states require an association to give an owner notice and an opportunity to be heard before it acts, and most sets of documents provide for something. The response section is on the form because a notice that only tells somebody they are wrong is the one that produces a complaint about the association rather than about the fence.

Does it read my CC&Rs?
No. Nothing is uploaded or interpreted. You cite the rule and describe what was observed; the tool prints a dated letter from what you wrote.
Does it suggest a fine?
No, and it will not. Fines, hearings and escalation are set by your governing documents and, in many states, constrained by statute. The consequence section is empty until you write in it.
What correction period should I give?
The one your governing documents give. CompliMaint states none and fills nothing in — the box is empty and prints what you type, attributed to the association.
Do I have to offer a hearing?
In many states, yes, in some form — and your own documents may require one regardless. CompliMaint takes no view; the response section is there so whatever your procedure is appears on the notice.
