Somebody else’s numbers, kept properly

An analyzer prints a strip, or a contractor reads figures off a screen and tells you what they were. Both end up on a clipboard and then in a drawer. This keeps them against the appliance they came from, with the date, the instrument used, the firing rate they were taken at, and the name of whoever took them.

Efficiency is on the list for one reason: your instrument prints one, and leaving the field out would mean you could not record what you were told. It is stored exactly like every other reading — copied off the analyzer. CompliMaint does not calculate it.

No acceptable value is published here

Not for CO, not for oxygen, not for stack temperature, not for efficiency. There is no pass mark, no acceptable band and no tuning recommendation anywhere in this tool. What a reading means depends on the appliance, the fuel, the burner, the venting and the manufacturer’s own data, and it is read by the qualified person standing in front of it.

If you want a range on a reading you can set one, and every screen and the printed record will say it is yours.

Carbon monoxide is not a paperwork problem

If you suspect a combustion problem, act on it where you are standing. A record is written afterwards; it is not the response. Nothing in this tool alerts anybody, and nothing in it is monitoring your building.
