Questions people ask
- Does it work out what the hours are worth?
- No, and that omission is deliberate. An “estimated value of volunteer time” figure ends up in grant applications and on tax returns, and a number invented by a website would travel into one. The sheet totals hours.
- Can I use this for a grant application?
- The hours are yours to use. What this product will not do is state that they are eligible for anything, put a value on them, or make a claim about match funding or deductibility — those come from whoever administers the program.
- Do volunteers count as employees?
- This tool takes no view. Whether somebody is a volunteer, an employee or a worker is a legal question that turns on the facts and the jurisdiction, and it is not one a free log should answer.
- What goes in the activity column?
- What they actually did, briefly. It is what makes the log worth reading back at the end of a season.
