Matter budget & WIP

Worksheet

Work and costs recorded against a budget you entered, with the balance worked out.

Both numbers, side by side, and no comparison

The budget you agreed sits in the header; the balance sits at the foot. A reader sees both at once and draws their own conclusion. Nothing here computes a percentage of budget, draws a bar or raises a flag — a product that did would be judging somebody’s matter on figures it has no way to validate, and the step after that is a billing recommendation.

It is not accounting and it is not billing

No general ledger, no journal, no revenue recognition, no accrual and no accounting treatment of work in progress. Whether unbilled work is an asset, when it is recognized and how it is reported are accounting judgments this product does not make. The arithmetic is a sum of what you typed.

Figures you entered, added up. Not accounting and not billing: no ledger, journal, revenue recognition, accrual or accounting treatment, and no comparison against your budget. Not trust or client-funds accounting. Everything runs on your device.

Questions people ask

Does it show percentage of budget used?
No, deliberately. Both figures are on the sheet and the reader compares them. Nothing here computes a percentage, colors a bar or raises a flag.
Is this accounting?
No. No general ledger, no journal, no revenue recognition and no accrual. It adds up figures you typed.
Is it trust or client-funds accounting?
No. This product has no trust, IOLTA or client-funds accounting anywhere in it, and money held for a client belongs in a system built for that obligation.
Does it tell me when to bill?
No. It makes no billing determination and recommends nothing.
