Owner training is in almost every specification and almost never documented properly. A dated line per session — what was covered, who delivered it, who was there — takes two minutes and is the thing the owner asks for at closeout.

Questions people ask
- Does this certify that anybody is trained?
- No. It records that a session happened and what it covered. It issues no certificate, makes no assessment and reaches no conclusion that anybody is competent to operate anything. Competency is a judgment for the operator's own organization.
- What training is required at handover?
- This tool does not say. What training is owed, and on what systems, is in the contract documents and the specification for the job. Publishing a list would be a requirement invented by a website.
- Is this a training record for my own staff?
- No — that is a different record with a different subject. Training your own people against your own requirements is the training matrix, which is kept per person. This is kept per job: it is a handover deliverable, and it is read by the owner.
- Should I put attendee names in it?
- Who attended, in your own words, is a normal part of a handover record. What does not belong here is anything about how anybody performed. The form carries a note saying so, because this is not a personnel file.
