A standpipe is not one object in one place — it is a riser with outlets on landings, and the thing you actually check is the outlet in front of you. Each location is its own record with its own history, so “Stair A, level 3” keeps its own line of dated checks and the cap that was missing in March is still visible in September.

Conditions, never dimensions

Caps in place, threads undamaged, valve in the position your system expects, nothing stacked in front of the cabinet. All observable, all recordable by whoever is doing the walk. What is deliberately absent is any figure: no required pressure, no hose length, no class determination and no acceptance threshold. Those come from the standard your system was designed to and from your AHJ.

What it does not do

It runs no test. There is no flow test here and no hydrostatic test, and a completed walk is not either of those things. It is the owner’s dated note of what the connections looked like — useful precisely because it is honest about being only that.

How often should standpipes be checked?

That depends on your system and your jurisdiction, and this tool does not answer it. There is a field to record whether hose is fitted, because that is a fact about your building worth writing down. Whether it should be is a question for your AHJ.
Is a completed walk an inspection under the standard?
No. It is your own dated record of what you saw. The inspection, testing and maintenance your system is subject to is carried out under that standard by people qualified to do it, and their report is a separate document worth keeping.
